Easy Strawberry Dumplings

When I think of dumplings, the first thing that usually comes to mind is a savory dish, like chicken and dumplings. But I recently discovered dessert dumplings and my life has been changed forever! How did I not know this was a thing?!

These strawberry dumplings are soft and chewy, with real fresh strawberry filling. They’re smothered in an ooey-gooey brown sugar syrup that makes each bite a decadent treat.

The best part about this recipe is that these dumplings are as easy as they are delicious! We used crescent dough, so there’s no worrying about making homemade dough. Just pop the can, unroll the dough, add the filling, roll ’em back up…and bake!

You might just love this recipe as much as the kids do!

Open and unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles along the perforations in the dough. Spoon about 1 Tablespoon of chopped strawberries along the shortest end of each triangle of dough.

Starting at the end with the berries, carefully roll up the dough so that the strawberries remain in the middle.

Prep Tips

  • We recommend a 10-inch square pan because it will give you room to fit all the dumplings inside to cook at once. A larger pan may allow the liquid to spread out too much, while a smaller pan may not fit all the dumplings inside. Just something to keep in mind when you’re preparing the dish!
  • We used strawberries for this recipe, but you could swap them out with different types of fruit or even use pie filling. Cherry pie filling would taste fantastic too!
  • You baking time may vary slightly based on your actual oven temperature. You just want to make sure that the dumplings are cooked through and not dough-y in the middle.
