If you loved our Moana Hawaiian Punch recipe from last summer, then you’ve got to try our NEW Tropical Fruit Punch! An orange Hawaiian punch recipe that is perfect for summer parties or just a refreshing treat on a hot day.

Tropical Fruit Punch Recipe

Nothing says summer like a refreshing and vibrant glass of punch – and when that drink looks like a golden summer sunset, well, that’s even better!

This is a fun drink recipe kids can make independently, whether for a special family night or a get-together with friends, with a fresh citrus flavor cut through with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s also fun when you layer the different colors (by filling the glass full with ice cubes) for a pretty ombre effect.

It’s the perfect option for parties – cheaper than offering cans of soda and also a lot more special – and bonus: no dealing with crazy caffeinated kids! (Plus you can easily make it more grown-up for the adults attending your party – if you’re so inclined.)

This tropical fruit punch can be made the day before and stored in the fridge until ready to serve – and make sure you have plenty of ice on hand because it’s best served cold. And if you’re worried about the ice watering down your delicious concoction, you can actually freeze the punch into ice cubes and use those for your punch! Bonus: it’s a great option for guests who are sticking to water but might want a bit of a flavor infusion – they can pop a few of the hawaiian punch ice cubes into their drinks for a bit of cherry-orange flavor, without indulging in a full glass.

Also – a little tip, if you’re buying maraschino cherries for this recipe the syrup they come in is the perfect swap out for grenadine. They are basically the same thing!

My daughter’s friends loved this simple orange Hawaiian punch recipe and when they had already drank through one pitcher, it only took a minute to whip up a second batch. My daughter also loves when we add mango juice into the mix, but I wasn’t sure if her friends would be fans of that so I left it out of this recipe when I made it for the party. If your kids are fans of mango, too, be sure to add a cup of mango juice for the ultimate tropical fruit punch!

I hope your family loves this tropical fruit punch recipe as much as our family did! It’s the perfect option for a quick summer punch for serving to a crowd.

What is Tropical Fruit Punch Made Of?

Minute Maid Tropical Fruit Punch is a blend of pineapple and orange juices, as well as other flavorings. While made with real fruit juice, Minute Maid also adds high fructose corn syrup to their juice, to sweeten it.

Tropical Punch Kool Aid contains NO fruit juice and is also sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. It’s actually the #2 ingredient!

That’s why we decided to make our own tropical punch recipe, using real fruit juice and real grenadine (made with cane sugar and not high fructose corn syrup). Yes, this drink contains sugar, but it is real sugar and not hyper-sweet corn syrup!

Here are the Ingredients for our Homemade Tropical Punch:

  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup mango juice, optional
  • 2 oz grenadine syrup, optional
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish (optional)

(amount is for one serving)

Can You Substitute the Grenadine?

One of the most common brands of grenadine, Rose’s Grenadine is made with high fructose corn syrup. If you’re having trouble finding an alternative, you can always use pomegranate juice in place of grenadine. You can usually find this in the produce section at the grocery store, where they sell juices. Pomegranate juice will also have a deep red color that will make our drinks look beautiful.

You can also skip the grenadine altogether and stick to the three main fruit juices!

To Make a Pitcher

Adjust your ingredient amounts:

  • 3 cups orange juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 to 1 cup grenadine syrup, to taste
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)

Stir the orange juice, pineapple juice and grenadine together and chill until ready to serve.

Serve on ice, garnished with a cherry.

Prep Tips

  • Make an extra batch of punch ahead of time and freeze into ice cube trays. You can use these fruit juice ice cubes to keep your drinks cool, without watering them down.
  • Feel free to swap out the citrus juices, to your taste. For example, if mango is not a favorite, you can always use extra pineapple juice or orange juice in its place.

  1. Easy recipe. I used 1 gallon Red Hawaiian Punch, 2 large cans of Pineapple Juice and a 2liter of Sprite. And sugar to taste. Can also use Canada Dry or Ginger Ale. Went over well at Grandparent’s Baby Shower with Hawaiian Theme.
