- Nutter Butter cookies
- 1 cup white chocolate melting wafers
- 1 cup milk chocolate melting wafers
- 1/4 cup black candy melts
- Candy eyeballs
Kitchen Tools You May Find Helpful
- Microwave safe bowls
- Piping bags
- Chocolate dipping wand or fork
- Wire cooling rack
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Toothpicks
Instructions
Melt the candy melts and chocolate melting wafers according to package directions. Be sure to use microwave-safe bowls.
Using wand or fork, dip the nutter butter cookies in yellow candy melts or brown chocolate until thoroughly coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl, then place on a wire rack or lined baking sheet to dry.
To make the ears, pipe the melted black candy or chocolate onto a piece of parchment paper. You can freehand the ears, or trace ovals on the parchment paper with pencil to use as a guide. I recommend making more ears than you’ll need in case any of them break. Place the ears in the fridge to harden.
To make the eyes, you can pipe melted chocolate on top of the coated cookies, or press candy eyes into the chocolate coating while it is still wet.
Attach ears by dabbing toothpick in brown or yellow chocolate to use as a glue, and gently pressing the ears on top of the cookies.
Pipe or use a toothpick dipped in the black candy melts to draw the nose and mouth. Allow cookies to dry completely before serving or storing.
Set to dry and harden.
Prep Tips
- Chocolate – Melting wafers are designed specifically for melting and making candy or chocolate coatings, so that is what we used for this recipe. However, you can alternatively use chocolate chips to coat the cookies. If using chocolate chips, add a teaspoon of shortening or coconut oil while melting them, so they will melt more smoothly.
- Storage – Keep cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
