Santa OREOs Recipe

One of our favorite holiday traditions is we always make a themed chocolate-covered OREO cookie.

EVERYONE in the family loves OREOs, its an easy dessert for everyone to help make, plus its so fun to come up with a new design that is perfect for whatever holiday or occasion we are celebrating.

We’ve made everything from Valentine Teddy Bear OREOs to Baby Shark OREOs (for Shark Week, of course), and our latest creation is today’s Santa OREOs, which are styled to look like Santa’s round belly, with that iconic belt hanging on for dear life.

These adorable cookies are perfect for so many occasions/uses:

  • Lunch box treat
  • Movie night snack
  • Christmas Cookie Exchange – or any holiday party
  • Gifting to friends, teachers, family, etc
  • Using to top Christmas cupcakes as an easy way to decorate

To Prep: Line a large baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper.

Melt the white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave in 15-second intervals,
stirring between each, until melted and smooth.

Scoop a small amount of the melted white chocolate into a separate bowl and color it yellow. This will be used to make the belt buckle. Scoop about 1/4 cup of the melted white chocolate into a piping bag and set aside. Color the rest of the melted white chocolate red.

Use a fork to dip the Oreos into the melted red chocolate, turning it to fully coat. Tap the
fork to shake off any excess chocolate and place on the parchment paper to dry.

Prep Tips:

  • How to store chocolate-covered OREOs: Once the chocolate has set/hardened, store your Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Avoid refrigerating them, as it will cause the chocolate to sweat.
  • Add Flavors: Yes, you can add a flavor oil or extract (nothing containing water as that will cause the chocolate to break) or use a flavored OREO for a different flavor profile. Vanilla extract, raspberry flavor oil or flavored OREOs would be my top suggestions! If you look closely, you’ll see that we actually used strawberry OREOs to make these Santa OREOs!
