Valentine’s Day Pretzel Bark
Where are my salty and sweet fans at?
I can usually pass up dessert, but if something sweet and salty is on the menu – I’m hooked!
This Valentine’s Day Bark is that perfect sweet and salty combination with pretzels, OREOs, Valentine’s M&Ms and sweet candy coating. The crunchy texture of the mix-ins with the creamy and soft candy melt topping is sooo satsifying.
It’s the perfect addition to a Valentine’s movie night, or it makes a super simple classroom treat the kids can help make. Swap out the mix-ins we used for your own personal favorites. (You can even use cinnamon heart candies or conversation heart candies in place of the M&Ms, if desired.)
Use flavored OREOs or candy melts to switch up the flavor profile even more.
Once you make it once, you can customize it to any occasion, whether a holiday or a party. We’ve made Mermaid Pretzel Bark, Christmas Pretzel Bark, Peppermint Pretzel Bark, etc.

What Does Bark Mean in Candy?
“Bark” is a type of dessert that involves a combination of nuts, crackers, and other mix-ins that are incorporated into melted candy, such as white or milk chocolate. This mixture is spread out on a baking sheet and allowed to harden.
Once the chocolate is fully set, one breaks the candy apart into individual pieces that can be a variety of shapes and sizes. Usually this is a no-bake dessert, so it is easy to make!
Valentine Bark Ingredients
- 2 cups white candy melts — or white chocolate melting wafers
- 8 OREOs — or similar sandwich cookies
- 1/2 cup pretzels — broken into bite sized pieces
- 1/4 cup M&Ms — We used a holiday themed mix, with pink and purple candy

Tip: swap out the mix-ins for your own personal favorites. Use flavored OREOs or candy melts to change up the flavor profile even more.

- Rolling Pin, optional for breaking up OREOs and pretzels
How to Make Valentine’s Pretzel Bark
Crush pretzels and OREOs into 1″ bite-size pieces.
TIP: To make this easy and mess-free, place the pretzels and cookies into a large zip-top plastic bag and seal the bag. Use a rolling pin to crush the pretzels and cookies into bite-sized pieces (but not so small that they are crumbs). The bag will keep everything contained!
Arrange the OREOs and pretzels in the bottom of a 8-inch square casserole dish in an even layer.
Place the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 25-second increments, stirring well in between each heating.
Once the candy melts are completely smooth and melted, pour evenly over the candy melts and smooth with an offset spatula.
Cover and let the pretzel bark set up on the counter – if you refrigerate, the candy melts will “sweat.”
Once completely set, break into small squares.
How to Store
You might be wondering if this treat needs to be refrigerated, but it actually holds best at room temperature. (I find that pretzels go stale quicker in the fridge).
Place any leftover in an airtight container and keep on the counter. Be sure that the container is far away from any light or heat sources that might cause the chocolate to melt.
When properly stored, this candy can stay good for a couple weeks.
