There’s hardly anything tastier than a fresh fried churro dusted with cinnamon sugar! It’s one of our favorite treats to get at the rodeo or the renaissance festival here in Texas!
However, it takes a little finesse to re-create those classic carnival style churros at home. That’s why we created this super easy “cheater” churros recipe — so you can enjoy the same flavors of that classic Mexican dessert without all the fuss.
So what’s our top secret shortcut?

“Secret” Shortcut Churros Ingredients
- 1 package biscuit dough
- 2 Tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3-4 cups vegetable or peanut oil, for frying

How to Make Easy Cinnamon Sugar Churros

Pour cooking oil into a large pot over medium heat as you prepare the biscuits. Oil is ready to fry when it is between 350 and 375°F.
While oil heats, use a pizza cutter to slice each dough biscuit into 4-5 strips.
Whisk together cinnamon and sugar in a mixing bowl and set aside.
Fry each biscuit strip for about 30 seconds, flip and then continue cooking until golden brown.
Immediately roll the fried biscuits in the cinnamon sugar to coat.
Repeat with all biscuit strips until done.
Best enjoyed warm.
