Pizza Muffins
Pizza anything is always a hit in my house – from Pizza Dip to Pizza Sliders – we’ve experimented with pizza in countless forms, so it was about time we added a Pepperoni & Cheese Pizza Muffin recipe to our repertoire!
These pizza muffins are the perfect lunch box treat — an easy, on-the-go way to enjoy pizza without the mess.
My daughter always begs for those overpriced pizza breads in the bakery section of our grocery store, so I wanted to find a more budget-friendly way to recreate them at home. Instead of paying $3-4 each at a bakery, you can make a whole batch for less than $10! Then you can refrigerate or freeze and use them as needed.
And the taste? My daughter loved them!! Total win!
This is a simple savory muffin recipe that we filled with cheese and pepperoni. It all bakes together to taste like a slice of pizza, but without all the saucy mess! The sauce cooks right into the batter so you get all the flavor though!
Another plus to this recipe is that you can make a batch for the week and pop one out of the fridge for a ready-made snack or kids’ lunch. You can also freeze so they’ll last longer!

Pro Tips
- These cheesy muffins are perfect to serve alongside soup or pasta as an alternative to biscuits, or as a slightly indulgent side for a salad supper.
- Feel free to swap out for your favorite pizza toppings to customize your muffins! Sun dried tomatoes, sharp cheddar and black olives are next on my list!
Do Savory Muffins Need to be Refrigerated?
As a rule of thumb, most muffins should not be refrigerated. However, these savory muffins are an exception, as they are made with perishable ingredients such as meat and cheese.
We recommend wrapping the muffins in paper towels and placing in a sealed, airtight container or food storage bag. They will stay good in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
You can also freeze these homemade pizza muffins to keep them for up to a month. Individually wrap each muffin in plastic wrap, then place them all in a freezer storage bag.
Whether you refrigerate or freeze, always make sure the muffins are completely cooled to room temperature before placing in any sealed container. If the muffins are still warm, steam will be trapped in the bag or container and could make the muffins soggy.
