Frequently Asked Questions
How should I wash the berries?
Place the berries in a bowl of water with a splash of vinegar or a teaspoon of baking soda and allow to soak for a few minutes before draining and rinsing well. Gently pat dry with a paper towel.
Do I need to pit the cherries?
Yes, it’s important to pit cherries before adding them to the salad to prevent any unpleasant surprises while eating. You can use a cherry pitter or carefully cut them in half and remove the pit with your fingers.
How do I pick the best berries?
Ripe berries should have vibrant colors, be firm but not hard, and have a sweet aroma. Avoid berries that are mushy or have moldy spots.
How far in advance can I make the salad?
This strawberry fruit salad is best enjoyed within a few hours of preparing but it can be enjoyed for two days after preparing. After that, the fruit will start to soften.
