Helpful Kitchen Tools

To Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine cake mix, oil, and egg in a large bowl until smooth.
- Stir in green food coloring until you have a bright green color.
- Add powdered sugar to a separate bowl.
- Scoop up about 1 TB of batter and roll into a ball, then roll in the powdered sugar until the entire surface of the cookie is coated.
- Place on prepared pan. Repeat until all cookie dough is used.
- Press one red heart sprinkle into the top of each cookie.
- Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
Prep Tips
- Yield – We used about a Tablespoon of dough per cookie and ended up with 16 cookies. You may get more or less depending on the amount of batter used.
- Storage – Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days. I recommend placing a paper towel in the bottom of the container to absorb moisture. You can also freeze the cookies in a large freezer bag for up to 2 months.
- Dough – If the dough becomes sticky, you can chill the dough for 15-20 minutes to make it easier to work with. Coating hands with oil or dipping them in a bowl of water can also help prevent the dough from sticking to hands.
- Red Hearts – We used jumbo red heart sprinkles on our cookies. However, you can also make red hearts with red candy melts or melted white chocolate dyed with red rood coloring, then piping with a decorating bag.
